An der Aare soll auf den bestehenden Wegen ein uferbezogenes, das heisst, ein möglichst nahe am Wasser liegendes Fuss- und Velowegnetz entstehen. In der Gemeinde Zollikofen liegt ein konkretes Projekt vor. Der Gemeinderat beantragt dem Grossen Gemeinderat einen Kredit von Fr. 25'000.00 zu bewilligen. Dies umfasst ein reduziertes Projekt von der Gemeindegrenze zu Ittigen bis zum Restaurant Reichenbach. Die Ausführung soll nur realisiert werden, wenn der Anschluss an die Gemeinde Ittigen sichergestellt ist.

Die Berner Aareschlaufen bilden einen äusserst wertvollen Natur- und Naherholungsraum im Herzen der Agglomeration Bern. Die Gemeinden Bern, Bremgarten, Ittigen, Köniz und Zollikofen befassen sich – unter Federführung der Region Bern-Mittelland – seit sechs Jahren mit der Weiterentwicklung des Aareraums zu einer attraktiven, beispielhaft gestalteten und vorbildlich gepflegten Flusslandschaft.

Die fünf Partnergemeinden nahmen als ersten Umsetzungsschritt 2013 die Realisierung eines uferbezogenen Velo-/Fusswegnetzes an die Hand. Das Konzept sieht vor, zwischen Köniz und Bremgarten jeweils auf der einen Seite der Aare einen reinen Fussweg, auf der anderen Seite einen kombinierten Fuss-/ Veloweg anzubieten, ein sogenannt \"konfliktarmes Netz\". Lokale Ausbauten, betriebliche Anpassungen sowie gezielte Kommunikation und Sensibilisierung sollen ein Miteinander von Velo- und Fussverkehr ermöglichen.

Das Geschäft wird an der Sitzung des Grossen Gemeinderates vom 26. November 2014 behandelt.
